Marfa House Conversion by Barbara Hill
If just look at the appearance, the Barbara’s weekend retreat is a rather ordinary house submerging among those rural houses in Marfa, but once entering the room, you’ll marvel at its minimalist interior design.
Barbara Hill was born in Beaumont and crowned Miss Texas in 1956, is now an Houston-based interior designer. She bought and renovated a 100-year-old house in a tiny town in southwest Texas.

The bare concrete facades are very rustic but economical and practical, the interior walls are covered with white plaster which slowly produce mottled visual effects.
Ms. Hill saved the old adobe walls by adding a L-shape steel beams, and removed most of original interior walls. The about 170 sqm new layout apart from just one interior door in bathroom, nothing impedes the flow of spaces.
