Vandemoortele Residence: a 1970s Concrete Villa Renovation in Belgium

Together with designer friends, Nathalie Vandemoortele had renovated a 1970s concrete villa into a home. This Belgian fashion retailer stumbled upon this fortress-like house in the countryside near Ghent, Belgium.

The concrete structure was built in 1972 by a pair of Ghent architects, Johan Raman and Fritz Schaffrath, a lush gardens with a beautiful pond, a terrace with a built-in concrete table and barbecue.

House features abstract paintings and drawings by Belgian artist Hugo de Clercq.
