Zinc mine museum at Allmannajuvet by Peter Zumthor

Located on a remote mountain in Norway, the Zinc mine museum is a small museum and cafe consisting of four buildings some perched on existing stone structures, it memorializes the region’s zinc mines history between 1881 and 1899.

The four structures with exposed beams will sit above and apart from the mine’s archaeological remains, but echo the ghosts of these buildings by alluding to early industrial architecture, looking like they had always been there.

Designed by well-known Swiss architect Peter Zumthor, the Zinc mine museum is planned to open in the summer of 2016 as part of the National Tourist Routes.
