The Barns by Sander Architecten

Located on Kreugerlaan in the town of Weesp, Amsterdam-based architect Ellen Sander has transformed a 1784 farm lodge into a strikingly beautiful barn house with the open grassland landscape around Naardermeer.

The former barn was renewed as authentic as possible using only the reeds and undergrowth has been replaced. The trusses and logs were retained. The skylights and windows are typical farmhouse renovated, but exactly according to the original form.

Adjacent to a new wooden building with all wooden shutters which can be completely closed is a clear reference to the original country houses in the Dutch landscape.
