IST Family House by JRKVC

Inspired by Slovakian rural architecture, IST is a small family house designed by Slovakian architect Peter Jurkovič, an 80 sqm two-story space constructed with structural insulated panels installed on a massive concrete floor.

The icon–shaped house has tiny picturesque windows and a porch, the central plywood “service box” integrated with bathroom, toilet, stairs, storage and the kitchen.

There are certain principles encoded in traditional folk architecture, especially in the context of the need to reduce our ecological footprint and energy waste. Bigger is not always better! Simple buildings didn’t fight with the nature but has become part of it.
