Shelter Island Retreat by Cary Tamarkin
After bought it three years, NYC-based architect Cary Tamarkin rebuilt a 1960s shack in collaboration with interior designer Suzanne Shake.
Gently perched on the dunes of Shelter Island, this weekend retreat looks like a simple wooden box overlooking beautiful southwest water views, constant breezes and breath-taking sunsets.

Inspiration from architect:
Inspired by traditional Japanese construction, the building proudly expresses its post-and-beam construction. A covered outdoor breezeway separating sleeping and living areas encourages a casual, holiday atmosphere.
