Summerhouse in Thurgau by Staufer & Hasler

Quietly standing in an artificial pond side on the farmland ridge, the Summerhouse in Thurgau is a sheet iron wood construction building surrounded by a small, slightly overgrown forest.

The sleeping, living and dining rooms located in second floor are perched almost like being in a tree house, it open versatile visual relationships into the depth of natural areas.

The piles eight pillars are clamped in solid larch wood, the A-frame shear walls, the roof and simultaneously form the stiffening of the upper floor.

Inspiration from architect:

The abstract precision of the structure in the landscape that occupied the primeval garden distance, the adjustment of near and far, the balancing of heaviness and lightness – all of this is the construction in relation to the surrounding nature.
