House in Monterrey by Tadao Ando
Nestled against a hillside in the heart of the Cumbres national park, the House in Monterrey is a three-story concrete residence with an amazing infinity pool overlooking the spectacular valley views.
Architects: Tadao Ando
Location: Monterrey, Mexico
Photography: Ogawa Studio, Edmund Sumner
Built by the famous Japanese architect Tadao Ando for a couple with three children, this villa is an architectural performance in osmosis with the rocks and the vegetation, by a combination of texture and simple lines- with its angles and terraces, its graphical porches, its Indonesian granite tiles…
An enormous library has become the heart of the house, it’s also an intermediary between the different spaces through floating concrete staircase.
Live here, where meditation, experience the endless emptiness here, this is my dream house!
Inspiration from architect:
For the plan, this serene observant of the order of things was inspired by the architectural tradition of the Land of the Rising Sun, by the hovering beauty of the Japanese gardens.
An approach that can be found everywhere here as the vertiginous living space of a thousand and five square metres echoes the magnitude of the landscape surrounding it.
