Located on the third floor in a low-rise exclusive residential district in western Tokyo, the Setagaya Flat is a apartment interior renovation project or expansion project, because the existing walls all be maintained also including those exposed concrete, cement rendering and putty with clear coating.

Only the larch plywood is new element, old building fit in new well and age-old beauty remain, and that makes a space more dynamic.

The space is organized by long corridor on the north side of the flat and rooms access from the corridor as it is, put dramatic finishing on one facade of each room and arranged a kitchen, display shelf and countertop by layer.

Inspiration from architect:

So we made elaborative adjustment for whole elements except the wall to create an expanse of space while using existing wall.
