Kai Table by Naoki Hirakoso and Takamitsu Kitahara

Designed by Naoki Hirakoso and Takamitsu Kitahara, the Kai table is a wood cuboid which seemingly a rectangular low table, but multiple pieces can unfold or slide out and serves as a storage space.

Inspiration from designer:

In Japanese KAI means a pocket that is hidden inside a Japanese Kimono. In a similar way, Kai Table comprises multiple separate storage spaces that differ in size and form. They represent important values. Once they are combined, their meaning is strengthened and our mind is broadened. On the design level, the combination accounts for greater capacity.
