Located on a modest suburban block in Sydney, the Riverview House is a new courtyard house for a young family – a four-bedroom house for a family of five.
The two-story building has the economical facade, an envelope of painted brick is offset by timber floors, a steel stair and external steel sun shades.
Inside is organized around a central courtyard, which is enclosed by the living and dining areas, with the master bedroom tucked into one corner, and the playroom is suspended over the dining room and kitchen.
Inspiration from architect:
The courtyard creates visual connections between the street, the living areas and the back garden. The roof is deformed at the northeast corner allowing sunlight deep into the courtyard and the house.
