Located within the garden of a Grade II listed cottage in the Conservation Area of Old Basing in Hampshire, this simple form “barn” is a multifunction space houses a home office and storage room coupled with a garage that opens up to provide a sheltered play area for the family’s two young children.

This freestanding building made of a lightweight timber frame and is clad with open horizontal timber slats, it entered through large glazed sliding doors.
Inspiration from architect:
The structure was inspired by the simple geometry of barns from the local area and, although contemporary, the simple design does not detract from the historic cottage. The building is made of a lightweight timber frame, featuring an open slatted envelope that folds open to reveal the garage and play area
