Based on the Star Wars director’s personal collection of art and movie memorabilia, the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art is a 17 acres plan including a museum and a pedestrian bridge that links the lakefront site to nearby Northerly Island.

George Lucas has chosen Beijing-based MAD Architects to lead the design of his new museum, MAD recently releases the design concept of Lucas Museum of Narrative Art: a volcano-shaped building with a halo.

As the harbor rises up to the land, it merges with continuous stone surfaces that reach up to the sky and ultimately crescendo into a “floating” disc.

Actually, the tallest points of museum feature an observation deck with 360° views, providing visitors with stunning panoramas of both Chicago and Lake Michigan.

Inspiration from architect:

Inspired by the work of Frank Lloyd Wright and Mies van der Rohe, the design integrates the natural beauty of the park and Lake Michigan with the powerful man-made architecture of Chicago.
