Lonely Seashore Library in China by Vector Architects
Quietly sitting on the seaside of Qinhuangdao in northern China, the Seashore Library is a fairly isolated building that looks like a weathered boulder facing the sea.

Serves as a unique public library, this wood form poured-in-place concrete building houses a reading area, a meditation space, activity room, a drink bar and a resting area.
The half-arched roof implies the main subject of the space, sunlight can stream through several 30cm diameter circular openings and meandering through space with time shift.
When walking into the space, one starts to feel the light, breezes, and sound of the ocean. In here, everyone can slow down the usual pace, and unfold the feeling of distant and loneliness different from the city life.
Inspiration from architects:
The use of wood form was inspired by the sand marks of foot prints, wind and wheels on site. It implies a mark of memory in time that can be read as a poem.
