Casa Meztitla by EDAA

Sits at the foot of the sacred El Tepozteco Mountain, the Casa Meztitla is a fantastic holiday house, an sustainable living blending into its warm subtropical surroundings.

The house was built out of rough stone, the natural stone clad the concrete structure aligned with the vegetated-covered stone slopes, the upstairs studio is the only white volume.

Designed for a couple as retreat, the residence blurs boundaries between indoors and outdoors, with wide rotating glass doors opening up to welcome the surrounding nature inside.

The building consists of four zones: social spaces, service zone, four bedrooms and a studio space above with access across roof terraces.

Inspiration from architect:

Casa Meztitla is an intervention of a natural scenario. It showcases the luxurious value of leisure, the tropical weather, the intense sunlight, the smells of nature, the over 500 year-old landscaped terraces and the ever-present rock mountain: El Tepozteco. It is context in itself.
