Located on the waterfront at Oosterdok, the ARCAM new headquarter is a compact three-storey pavilion, the folded skin combined with the bevelling glass facade results in a spectacular entrance.
On the street level an exhibition space is located and the upper floor is fitted with glass partitions, creating an attic-like space. On the waterfront, at the quay level, a multipurpose space for meetings and discussions.
ARCAM (ARchitecture Centre AMsterdam) is a foundation established in 1986 and focuses its activities on and around Amsterdam.

Inspiration from architect:
The brief was to integrate the columns and floor plans of the existing pavilion into the new project. Integration of Renzo Piano’s design was not the only restraint of the project, due to its sensitive site there was a limitation placed on the building envelope.
